Willingness to collaborate in building a strong school community and to foster a collaborative relationship with content area or grade level teachers, administrators, and parents.
Willing to participate in and knowledgeable about the assessment process for intellectually gifted students, including experience with the administration and interpretation of standardized and curriculum-based educational assessments. Understand and be able to work with the Intellectually Gifted Assessment Scoring Grid. Have a clear understanding of the identification of "at risk" populations and the assessment alternatives that are appropriate when assessing a student who has been identified "at risk".
Able to write and implement compliant IEP's appropriate for intellectually gifted students.
Good organization skills to handle teaching, assessment, meeting, and data management responsibilities.
A knowledge and understanding of the cognitive, social, and emotional characteristics and needs of intellectually gifted students from diverse populations.
A knowledge of and access to advanced content and ideas and appropriate activities and opportunities.
An understanding of the philosophical and theoretical basis for program design for intellectually gifted students.
An ability and willingness to develop and implement differentiated and or parallel curriculum appropriate to meeting the unique intellectual needs of gifted students.
Willingness to attend training offered by HCDE.
Meets Gifted Work Standards or Endorsement for the State of Tennessee by holding a special education certificate or an appropriate regular education certificate with the required coursework for work standards or endorsement.

Highly Qualified in a 7-12 content area or Highly Qualified in a regular education content area.
Meets Endorsement or Gifted Work Standards for the State of Tennessee by holding a special education certificate or an appropriate regular education certificate with the required coursework for work standards or endorsement.
This is an itinerant / district-wide position. Schools and base will be assigned following hire.
