This position requires an Arizona teaching certificate (Special Ed or other area) or certification in another related field; Master's degree preferred; prefer a minimum of 3 years' teaching experience.
Note : All of our certified positions require a full Structured English Immersion (SEI) endorsement.

SUMMARY:
Performs duties of a highly specialized and complex nature on behalf of and in consultation with the Assistant Principal responsible for Special Education related to Special Education programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports Inclusion program oversight, curriculum, planning, and development
- Provides leadership for Education Assistants working within the Inclusion program
- Develops and manages schedules for Education Assistants
- Provides training and support for Education Assistants
- Provides training for special education and general education staff on legal issues, academic interventions, behavioral interventions, and any other relevant topics?
- Consults with special education teachers and reviews student progress in resource and Inclusion classrooms on an on-going basis
- Provides behavioral support for students on an IEP
- Works with special education staff, general education staff, students and families to resolve concerns about students' special education programming
- Serves as a member of the Child Study Team and the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team
- Facilitates IEP meetings for new referrals
- Conducts academic assessments, classroom observations and reviews student progress on an on-going basis in order to make recommendations for instructional adaptations in general education classrooms
- Provides training for special education and general education staff on legal issues, academic interventions, behavioral interventions, and any other relevant topics
- Facilitates meetings for students transitioning into the high school from middle school or out-of-district
- Supports hiring of Education Assistants
- Performs other related duties, as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Possesses, or is willing to obtain, knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding special education, district procedures, and school board policies
- Possesses demonstrated skills in working collaboratively with education professionals, parents, and students
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing?
- Able to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
- Able to deal effectively with matters of confidentiality
- Ability to handle confrontation and conflict
- Utilizes effective organizational and time-management strategies
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- Arizona Certification as a Teacher, Special Education Teacher, or in a related field
- A Master's degree is preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience is preferred
