The mission of the Atlanta College and Career Academy is to ensure each student graduates high school with the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for college and career success. ACCA aims to benefit students, employers, and the community-at-large by increasing high school graduation and college enrollment rates, providing higher levels of academic attainment, and strongly preparing students for high-skill, high-wage, and high demand careers that will lead to greater potential for local economic development.
The ACCA will open in August 2020 at the old Parks Middle School facility. Students that participate in ACCA programming will report to the ACCA facility for two hours each day and return to their home school.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for imparting knowledge and skills to middle or high school students. The candidate will utilize research-based theories and strategies to teach, organize and implement structured lessons for topics that include graphic design, print design, communication design, commercial art, graphic arts, visual communication or print management.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Responsible for imparting knowledge and skills to middle or high school students. The candidate will utilize research-based theories and strategies to teach, organize and implement structured lessons for topics that include graphic design, print design, communication design, commercial art, graphic arts, visual communication or print management.
  2. Administer and/or support the state and local standardized testing processes and policies
  3. Administer various types of assessments to monitor student's comprehension of content
  4. Enhance course content in the form of remediation, modification and enrichment
  5. Work collaboratively with middle/high school teachers to vertical align curriculum and best practices, where applicable
  6. Effectively manage the learning environment so that it is conducive to learning. Maintain and monitor an effective learning environment free of hazard, ridicule and prejudice; Assist with student management throughout the building, grounds and/or other district facilities
  7. Coordinate parent/teacher and student/teacher conferences to review student performance, behavior and other issues
  8. Effectively communicate with students, parents and other stakeholders via verbal and written communication; Comply with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, breaches of ethics, or any criminal activity of which the employee becomes aware


Requirements : EDUCATION:
  • Hold an associate?s degree or higher from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution in graphic design; advertising design; communication design; commercial art; graphic arts; visual communication; computer animation; print management
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
  • Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Professional certification at a T-4 level or higher, or be eligible to participate in the district?s non-certification pathway
  • Preferred: Candidates with postsecondary teaching experience and/or possess the qualifications to teach for The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG)
  • Preferred: CDL License or will to recieve a CDL license

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of graphic design, print design, communication design, commercial art, graphic arts, visual communication or print management. Ability to differentiate instruction and assess student performance.


Compensation : Salary Grade: T4 - T7
Salary Range: $48, 086-$93, 980
Work Days: 202
