POSITION SUMMARY:

The Curriculum and Instruction Coach will provide support to schools in strategically planning, communicating, implementing, monitoring, and assessing instructional best practices and resources aimed at continuous school improvement. The successful candidate must demonstrate expertise in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and show evidence of the ability to effectively track teaching and learning, and efficiently provide feedback to practitioners. The Curriculum and Instruction Coach must also be able to organize time and resources (human and material) to coordinate efforts, and work within deadlines to coach, facilitate, and model best practices for meeting goals for academic improvement. Additionally, the Curriculum and Instruction Coach must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, as well as proven evidence of the ability to build professional capacity in adult learners. The Curriculum and Instruction Coach will support the schools, and be required to differentiate services based on observation of practices and achievement data. Performs related duties as required.

Principal Accountabilities:

Provide guidance to administrators and school teams in building Professional Learning Communities and in working collaboratively to identify and employ best practices aimed at improvement of curriculum and instruction.

  1. Participate in the development, and monitor the implementation of curricular projects.

  2. Observe teaching and learning, and review data routinely to work with individuals and teams to track and advance the status of school improvement efforts.

  3. Problem-solve and execute the day-to-day actions and protocols that are necessary for the successful attainment of area and school achievement goals

  4. Organize efforts, provide support and collaborate with the School Leadership Team, and others to ensure that routine services to schools and teachers, as well as special projects (e.g. Academic Olympics, History Fair, etc.) are completed in a timely manner.

  5. Provide resources and training to teachers and administrators on research-based practices for the improvement of curriculum, instruction, and learning climate.

  6. Model best practices for classroom application.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Master' Degree in Education. Valid Teaching License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Five or more years of related experience.

  • Proof of prior success with coaching and facilitating adult learners

  • Knowledge of the elementary core content curriculum

  • Ability to access, analyze, and respond to data

  • Proven expertise in school improvement, professional development and/or organizational development

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point, IMPACT, Oracle, and Dashboard

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Evidence of successful leadership experience

  • Evidence of successful classroom experience

  • Proven track record in producing, managing, and monitoring academic activities and projects

  • Proof of ability to plan and implement rigorous lessons that are relevant to students.
