QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  1. Valid N.Y.S. School Psychology certification
  2. Experience working as a psychologist with regular and special education students

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

  1. Clinical counseling experience with children and families.

DUTIES:

The primary goal of this position is to enable students to fulfill their potential. This may include academic, emotional and social success. The training and tools unique to the school psychologist will be used to supplement interventions by instructional and administrative staff.

  • Assess difficulties of referred students through appropriate diagnostic and testing practices, including classroom observation.
  • Assist district development and implementation of RTI
  • Administer tests and recommend placement for all exceptional and new students as designated.\
  • Help identify all types of exceptional children and assist in the assessment of appropriate placement for the child.
  • Maintain case records on all referred students.
  • Recommend corrective procedures and specific activities for teachers and other staff to meet the special education student's needs.
  • Provide school counseling according to IEPs and as needed
