Essential Functions and Objectives:

- The School Communications Specialist will work with the school communications team, the impact office, and designated school leaders to implement comprehensive marketing communications plans for a minimum of three high-priority schools. The School Communications Specialist will work to outline needs and recommend outcomes for marketing plans, and will lead the strategic and tactical implementation of these plans. Duties may include research and discovery, development of plans and timelines, content creation, design guidance, budget management, and day-to-day implementation of communications needs at the school level.

- Provide comprehensive, strategic marketing communications support to designated schools, including branding, marketing collateral development, internal and external school signage, student recruitment and retention strategies, digital communications (including school website updates, social media communications, texting, and mobile application updates), newsletter development and distribution, advertising, direct mail, media relations, management of school tour and recruitment events, school calendar management, and more.

- Design, implement and manage internal communications at the school level and communications between stakeholders and the three identified schools; these stakeholders may include students, educators and parents (prospective, current and former) as well as other community members across Denver.

- Collaborate with graphic designers, translators, the school marketing team, and other communications team members to ensure consistency in messaging and visual branding for the supported schools across numerous platforms and in multiple languages as needed.

- Act as primary point of contact and project manager for identified schools; manage timeline, resources and completion for multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining keen attention to detail.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Three (3) to five (5) years of comprehensive experience in communications, marketing, public relations and/or internal communications.

- E xceptional relationship‐building, strategic-planning, facilitation and project-management skills necessary to organize a variety of stakeholders around common goals.

- S olid creative skills to develop messaging and provide guidance on visual concepts that will inspire stakeholders to action.

- E xperience in stakeholder engagement and outreach to a diverse community.

- E xceptional written and verbal communications skills, as well as experience with tailoring messaging to a variety of audiences, including families for whom English is not their first language.

- E xceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines within a fast-paced environment.

- C olorado driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to and from schools throughout Denver

- B asic graphic design, social media, digital advertising, and email newsletter platform experience is recommended.

- F amiliarity with Wordpress and web content management is recommended.

- F amiliarity with DPS departments and schools is beneficial but not required.

- B ilingual skills in English and Spanish a plus.

Education Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field
