Must possess the skill to analyze, develop, and implement complex programs and assists in the activities and operations related to development and implementation of data systems; design and code complex applications to assure proper and effective implementation of new and/or modified applications; collect, analyze, and evaluate information required to develop and/or modify new and/or previously developed applications to assure optimum means of meeting user needs; develop job specification for data processing projects to specify task requirements, time estimates; conduct tests of new and/or modified applications, analyzes results, and modifies these programs as required; collect and analyze information to determine the feasibility of and requirements for proposed systems; act as an information source to users and other interested parties regarding systems and programming and provides advice on the feasibility of applying computer techniques to specified operational needs; provide technical direction to programming and other staff regarding departmental procedures, instructions, standards; train and instruct staff in programming procedures and assists in resolving problems; prepare and maintain records of support material related to the documentation of systems and programs including user manuals; provide technical information to Systems and Programming Unit personnel regarding data systems and programs; establish and maintain effective working relationship with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
Five years of paid programming experience, preferably utilizing the programming language in effect by the computer center and six months exposure to system study and design. Also requires education equivalent to completion of twelfth grade and completion of two years of college level work in a related field such as computer science, programming, accounting, completion of manufacturer's software schools, workshops, and seminars.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
DUTIES OF POSITION: To assist the Programming Coordinator in the formulation and design of new or revised data systems, procedures, and programs and to direct and perform the programming functions of the department. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision from the Programming Coordinator within a broad framework of policies and procedures. Employees in this classification direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of subordinate programmers in a lead capacity. This is the advanced journey level of the programming series. This job classification performs complex technical and analytical duties related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of applications, programs, and systems.
STARTING SALARY: $6,751.90 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours to be 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
