The Ulster BOCES Adult Education Program is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant teacher. Classes are taught at various locations in Ulster County, including Port Ewen, Lake Katrine and Ellenville. All positions are hourly and flexibility is required. Hours vary (day and late afternoon hours) and teachers are scheduled as needed. This is a non-benefited position. Appropriate NYS Certification and fingerprinting required.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Responsible for teaching according to the NY State approved guidelines for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

WORK SCHEDULE :
Teacher is scheduled to teach for 6 week courses held up to 6 hours a day for 4-5 days per week. Courses are repeated at least quarterly with frequency dependent upon enrollment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES :
1. Prepare lessons to meet the curriculum guidelines
2. Teach lessons for students with diverse educational backgrounds
3. Prepare course exams, administer and grade exams
4. Teach clinical skills in the classroom to prepare for field experience in the final instructional weeks
5. Establish calendar for clinical experience with various health care institutions
6. Supervise clinical experiences in the field, ensuring that all students are scheduled for required clinical learning experiences
7. Maintain accurate records including attendance and grades
8. Support students in applying for testing for certification

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Required to be credentialed as a NY State Professional Nurse (RN), at least two (2) years experience caring for the elderly and/or chronically ill or three (3) years experience teaching nursing or nursing related programs to adults or to nurse aides in a residential health facility.
