Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, plus five years of progressively more responsible related experience and either national certification by Registry of Interpreter for the Deaf (RID) for sign language interpreters, or national certification by the Training, Evaluation, and Certification Unit (TECUnit) for cued language transliterates, or possession of level III of the Quality Assurance Screening awarded by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing as mandated by the Virginia Department of Education. Bachelor's degree preferred. Comprehensive understanding of deaf culture; knowledge of the RID code of ethics and/or the TECUnit code of conduct; ability to maintain good working relationships with deaf/hard-of-hearing students and staff; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
