Title: Marketing and Media Relations Coordinator
Reports To: Executive Director of Marketing and Media Relations
Basic Function/Purpose:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Marketing and Media Relations, the Marketing and Media Relations Coordinator performs a wide variety of complex and specialized administrative/public relations support functions as well as responsible operational duties, some of which are of a sensitive nature. This position is responsible for day-to-day administrative functions of the Marketing and Media Relations Department, including processing orders, invoices and other financial services paperwork; managing internal district communication; coordinating travel authorizations, arrangements and reimbursements for the Marketing and Media staff. The Marketing and Media Relations Coordinator will also play a key role in public relations by monitoring and revising district website content; assist with the creation of press releases and other written materials; planning and coordinating district/executive level event functions; answering requests for information via telephone, email, internet and from visitors. Performs other related duties as assigned by providing comprehensive support and assistance and exercising independent judgment and creativity.
Qualifications:
- Education equivalent to an Associate's degree or experience in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business or closely related field
- Experience in information management and office administration
- Experience in the use of computer applications: Microsoft Office Suite software (Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and administrative software (i.e., ERMA, Skyward)
- Experience with or knowledge of website content management systems that includes SharePoint and Wordpress.
- Experience in event planning
- Experience producing newsletters or other promotional materials for print and digital consumption as demonstrated by samples of work.
- Experience with or the ability to learn Adobe Photoshop desired and other Adobe Creative Suite Software desired.
- High level of personal responsibility, initiative, organization, and motivation.
- Think creatively and apply innovative solutions to the rapidly-evolving world of communications/marketing utilizing computers and various other electronic devices.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills while using tact, patience and courtesy.
- Communicate effectively in oral and written form with excellent spelling and grammar skills.
- Type with speed and accuracy.
- Demonstrate proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Basic budget and accounting practices.
- Work effectively and demonstrate current knowledge with computers and other forms of advanced technology utilized in providing high quality services and word processing, internet, research, presentation, database, web page maintenance, and spreadsheet computer software.
- Comprehend, apply and create content for internal and external newsletters, websites, or as appropriate.
- Special event planning and organizational skills.
- Collaborative, team player who has a proven ability to plan, organize, and prioritize job duties with minimal supervision.

- Ability to work some evenings or early morning hours periodically.
- Ability and willingness to learn photography and videography as needed.
- Ability to maintain websites and web content.
- Serve as the liaison between the Marketing and Media Relations Department and department staff, other district employees, outside organizations, and the public.
- Prepares, monitors, and processes purchase orders for the Marketing and Media Relations Department.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the Marketing and Media Relations Department budget.
- Maintains a calendar of events and activities, coordinating with departments and schools.
- Assist in updating and maintaining the Marketing and Media Relations Department website, district website, and school or resource websites. Provide support to other district departments when needed.
- Support school personnel with the maintenance of school websites. Provide training to staff on website guidelines and practices and maintain regular communication with web-content editors.
- Prepares internal and external communications newsletters or documents.
- Coordinates with schools and departments to build media tips to share with local and national media.
- Assist with proofing for accuracy and consistency with the organization branding guide in the development of assigned communication publications and press releases prior to distributing online or to printers.
- Assist in planning, coordinating and organizing special events for the district.
- Maintains a computerized database and mailing lists for the District's external communications, marketing and public relations functions and prepares mass mailings.
- Oversees, compiles, organizes and maintains district information databases, history, awards, and recognitions.
- Prepares travel requests and makes travel arrangements for the Marketing and Media Relations Department.
- Performs routine administrative tasks.
- Completes special projects as assigned by the Executive Director of Marketing and Media Relations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Oversees and maintains district websites under the direction of the Executive Director of Marketing and Media Relations.

Salary Range: Pay will range from $17.23 to $18.23
Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of one time per year.
