The career readiness team develops systems and support strategies to integrate career readiness with post-secondary planning at our schools, with the goal of ensuring that more students graduate with career exposure, strong postsecondary plans, and have access to viable pathways that will lead to employment in growth sectors and fulfilling careers.The Career Readiness Program Manager (CRPM) will work with the Deputy Director of College Access and Deputy Director of Career Readiness to support the New Visions career pathways agenda.

About the role

The CRPM will facilitate the development of career pathways for transfer schools through designing and facilitating coaching, structures and processes.

Professional Development
  • Develop and lead professional development series that supports schools in developing systems and structures that link career exploration with college planning and that build schools capacity to engage key stakeholders such as families in service of graduating students that are post-secondary ready to transition out of high school.
  • Develop and lead training and tools to support schools in utilizing the NV portal to track and monitor the development of post secondary plans and expand engagement with post-secondary planning in the portal
  • Track user feedback to inform the development of supporting resources to scale use of the career exploration functionality in the portal

Resource Development, Research and Evaluation
  • Design resources to support improved career readiness and exploration for all students
  • Support research and analysis on program design and impact, in coordination with internal data analysis team and any external evaluators. This will include developing processes for collecting data from program sites, documenting program implementation and best practices, and preparing reports to capture program outcomes.
  • Makes recommendations to leadership based on program findings. .
  • Prepares presentations for a wide audience of stakeholders and leadership on program design, policy and impact, and makes recommendations for changes that affect current program design and policies.

Skills and Experiences
  • Minimum of five years satisfactory full-time professional experience in supporting college and career readiness, preferably in NYC at the high school level
  • Background in post-secondary readiness, career development and facilitating adult learning, to support schools in ensuring all students graduate with the skills and experience to succeed after high school.
  • Experience with successfully managing relationships with internal and external partners
  • Strong background in providing professional development, technical assistance and/or capacity building supports to schools
  • Ability to use research to inform the design and management of school support systems and build programs at scale
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of NYC neighborhoods, CBOs, programs and resources
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Experience developing and leading professional learning for college and career advising.
  • Strong strategic thinking, project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to proactively identify key issues and risks.
  • Flexible, collaborative attitude needed to effectively function in a fast-paced and highly-changeable environment.

Required Education:
  • Master’s degree (MA, M.ED, MPA degree preferred) from an accredited college in community organizing, urban education, public administration, public policy, education policy and planning or related fields
