   License and Certification Qualifications: Cisco, Fortinet, or Juniper certifications preferred.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Five years information technology or related experience required. Training or work experience in UNIX or Linux preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Thorough understanding of Internet infrastructure including firewalls, web content filters, Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Virtual Private Networks (VPN), and Domain Name System (DNS); thorough understanding of network fundamentals including TCP/IP, switching, routing, IP addressing and load balancing techniques.

Primary Responsibilities: Oversee the design, configuration, maintenance, and support of capital projects as applicable to district Internet infrastructure, next-generation firewalls (NGFW), Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Domain Name System (DNS), email gateway security, and SSL certificate management solutions.

1. Provide oversight of Internet resources.
a. Evaluate Internet resources, capabilities, future goals, industry trends and technological advances to develop and maintain Internet edge infrastructure.
b. Evaluate customer requests for feasibility and appropriateness to determine needed course of action relating to Internet edge infrastructure.
c. Evaluate and recommend strategies and resources for Internet peering relationships. 2. Provide technical expertise in the area of Internet infrastructure.
a. Maintain a high degree of technical competence in Internet infrastructure including next-generation firewall (NGFW), email gateway security, DNS, VPN, and routing protocols (BGP).
b. Maintain a working knowledge of vendor supplied software and utilities pertinent to Internet solutions.
c. Maintain current knowledge of security best practices, networking, and BGP peering solutions.
3. Administer next-generation firewalls (NGFW)
a. Design, configure, and monitor firewall appliances that determine which applications and users are permitted and denied access in and out of the district's network.
b. Utilize content filtering systems to ensure that users are subject to district defined content access policies.
c. Utilize NGFW features such as SSL inspection, URL filtering, and application control to ensure users are subject to district defined content access policies.
4. Administer VPN systems.
a. Design, configure and monitor VPN implementations to include both site-to-site and client-to-site VPN tunnels.
5. Administer public DNS and IP addressing.
a. Design, configure and monitor DNS services for internal resolution of public DNS and external resolution of district domain names.
b. Design, configure and monitor the use of the district's public IP space.
6. Administer email gateway security
a. Design, configure and monitor mail filtering systems responsible for the district's email security.
7. Administer SSL certificate creation
a. Monitor and manage the tools and processes involved in generating and renewing SSL certificates for the district's web applications.
8. Provide high level Internet infrastructure support to customer service, local school technical staff and other Gwinnett County Public Schools' internal groups as directed.
a. Utilize approved tools and technical skills/knowledge to capture network traffic and perform detailed analysis and isolation of potential network and/or application issues.
b. Perform root cause analysis of network infrastructure related issues.
c. Provide direct support regarding network, hardware, and communications issues via telephone and on-site assistance to level 1 and 2 support staff.
d. Assist in developing training materials and delivering instruction as needed.
9. Provide technical documentation.
a. Provide comprehensive and accurate documentation of all administered systems including configuration and integration information.
b. Provide effective procedural documentation for all administered systems.
10. Perform all duties in a professional manner.
a. Work professionally with team members on projects, tasks and other duties.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.
