Job Description
ABE/ESOL Instructional Program - Availability of positions is contingent upon funding and enrollment
Qualifications:
1.Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
2.Massachusetts Teacher Certification (ABE Licensure preferred)
3.Experience working with Limited English Proficient students.
4.Sensitive to the needs of multi-cultural, diverse adult learners.
5.Ability to adapt teaching style and techniques to the needs of adult learners including implementing Hybrid/Blended Learning models.
6.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ZOOM, Google Classroom/Documents and the integration of technology in the ABE/ESOL classroom.
7.Certified to administer required ABE/ESOL assessments (willing to certify)
8.Familiar with the College and Career Readiness Standards and the English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education
Performance Responsibilities:
1.Assesses learner's initial and ongoing functioning levels.
2.Develops a program of study that meets and accommodates student assessment outcomes, individual needs, interests, abilities and goals.
3.Maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and plans instruction effectively.
4.Makes learning goals clear to students and communicates high expectations and encourages students to transfer learning to their roles as family members, workers and citizens.
5.Assists learners in developing an individualized Education & Career Plan or Family Action Plan
6.Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies and techniques to increase student learning and confidence.
7.Plans meaningful assignments for volunteer tutors. Incorporates them into the instructional setting to assist learners most in need of support.
8.Maintains and prepares accurate and complete records in a timely manner.
9.Participates in Common Planning and works with the Curriculum Facilitator to align curriculum with the College and Career Readiness Standards and the English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education, as applicable.
10.Works closely with Educational & Career Advisors to ensure student perseverance and positive student participation.
11.Actively plans with the technology teacher to devise lessons which integrate technology into the curriculum.
12.Works closely with administrators, Educational & Career Advisors, volunteer-tutors and colleagues to maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages students to raise issues and take risks.
13.Attends required meetings, participates in staff/program development activities and is receptive to changing program requirements.
14.Maintains collegial relationships with all staff members.
15.Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager of Adult Education or designee.

Hours:Evening Positions: Monday and Wednesday
Common Planning conducted monthly on Tuesday evenings
5:45 PM - 9:00 PM
Rate:In accordance with the N.B.E.A Unit A Contract
