    Position Summary
    Leads and executes all mission advancement, fundraising, and public communications activities for Kolbe House. Assists the Executive Director (ED) and Advisory Board in increasing awareness of Kolbe House ministries within the archdiocese and across Cook and Lake Counties.

    Responsibilities
    DEVELOPMENT
    1. Assists Executive Director and Advisory Board in writing development plan for 3 years, updated every year.
    2. Executes current development plan for fundraising, maximizing contributions to Kolbe House through appeals, grant-writing, special events and other campaigns. Fundraising targets will be developed with the Executive Director.
    3. Develops relationships with individual donors and grantors and identifies new candidates to solicit for support.
    4. Oversees gift stewardship including maintenance of donor and donation records, thanking donors, reporting on expenditure of funds as required by grantors and donors.
    5. Maintains relationships with Archdiocese department of Stewardship & Development and other development professionals to incorporate best practices and leverage relationships for increased giving.
    6. Plans special events for increasing awareness of Kolbe House Jail Ministry in the community, utilizing landmarks such as 40th anniversary of founding in 2023.
    50% COMMUNICATIONS
    1. Communicates with agency stakeholders, such as volunteers, donors, Archdiocese of Chicago staff members and parishioners, and general public, ensuring consistent, clear, and current branding and messaging across platforms and constituencies, adhering to Archdiocese guidelines. Publishes an annual report.
    2. Collaborates with Kolbe House ministry leaders to obtain stories and content to communicate the work and impact of Kolbe House ministries.
    3. Uses social media to promulgate messages to drive engagement with Kolbe House and advocacy for people affected by incarceration, adhering to Archdiocese guidelines, managing and monitoring our internet presence.
    4. Utilizes Blessed & Broken newsletter to introduce Kolbe House stakeholders and the general public to the gifts and realities of incarcerated persons and to Kolbe House ministries.
    5. Collaborates with archdiocese Communications and Public Relations Department to feature Kolbe House ministries and persons affected by incarceration in news media.
    6. Improves, maintains, and monitors Kolbe House website for optimal engagement with Kolbe House constituencies and the general public.
    7. Assists with other communications as requested by Executive Director.

    Assistant for Resource and Ministry Support Functions as direct supervisor for maintenance of donor records and thanking processes. Trains, guides, and mentors. Appraises performance and reports to Assistant's supervisor, the Associate Director. Administrative support volunteers Functions as direct supervisor for tasks she assigns.

    1. Develops calendar of communication activities incorporating social media, email, direct mail, website, news media, and printed materials such as annual report.
    2. Selects stories from ministry and related topics and prepares messages to transmit utilizing communications calendar.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION
    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
    EXPERIENCE
    Three years experience of development or philanthropy experience, including experience in donor management
    Two years experience in communications for a social service or ministry organization
    SKILLS
    Knowledge of development and fundraising strategies and familiarity with Chicago philanthropic community
    Knowledge of or experience in Catholic ministry
    Proficiency in using a CRM-type donor database (Salesforce preferred) for donor relationship management, analysis, and reporting
    Demonstrated experience in fundraising and individual giving solicitations, and participation in grant writing. Professional interaction with diverse individuals of means, including donors, trustees, and volunteers Proficient in using digital/social media and monitoring and management tools.
    Demonstrated ability to manage a social media calendar across multiple platforms. Experience planning and executing events preferred
    Proficient in marketing and design for digital and print communications
    Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
    Familiarity with website content management software and search engine analytics

    Possession of a valid Illinois driver's license and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment
    Willingness and ability to work on a flexible schedule as responsibilities require, including occasional evenings and weekends as necessary
