COMPLIANCE and OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

The Mission Preparatory School, a TK-8, college-preparatory, tuition-free, public charter school in San Francisco’s Mission District, is accepting applications for the role of Compliance and Operations Specialist for the 2021-22 school year.

The Role

The Compliance and Operations Specialist creates and maintains a safe, supportive and sustaining school community and an environment for learning in which all students, faculty and their families feel welcome. The role is held by an excellent communicator who supports the school to operate at a high level of efficacy and alignment with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Leading in equity, this person believes deeply in the potential for every student to succeed, and work tirelessly each day to create an anti-racist school environment that is built around high expectations, an inclusive and welcoming culture. This person will be a detail-oriented systems thinker who can build and execute operational systems of support to ensure teaching and learning are centered. With a lens towards customer-service the role maintains a clear focus on ensuring that our compliance and structures lead to sustainable success for every student, every minute, & every day by providing access to equitable opportunities, and building a sustainable inclusive and culturally responsive school culture and environment.

In collaboration with the Executive Director, Systems Manager, and Instructional Leadership, the Compliance and Operations Specialist will create and maintain excellent systems of compliance and functioning in the following areas:

School Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols related to Covid-19

  • Support instructional and operations teams to promote a school culture of restorative justice

  • Oversee all processes and programs related to emergency preparation & response, including safety planning, drills, & trainings in coordination with other school leaders

  • Ensure all staff are in compliance with all required safety trainings and mandates (mandated reporter, sexual harassment training, CPR, etc.)

  • Create and lead student non-academic supervision schedules in collaboration with instructional leadership

Facility and Operations

  • Oversee day to day upkeep and maintenance of the school facility in compliance with all applicable regulations, lease agreement, and codes

  • Manage and support health & wellness staff/aide

  • Create & maintain a ticketing system that supports positive communication and customer service for

    facility maintenance items

  • Collaborate with vendors and the district to maintain the infrastructure of the facility

  • Coordinate building usage

  • Place all furniture and equipment orders

  • Complete daily facility & exterior walkthroughs for welcoming and safe usage

  • Manage traffic procedures around arrival and dismissal.

  • Manage operational processes pertaining to onboarding and off- boarding in conjunction with Executive Director: processes may include but are not limited to building access, storage and keys

Back Office Functions

  • Collaborate with systems manager and instructional staff to support enrollment and registration of students and families

  • Create reports for compliance stakeholders as assigned by Executive Leadership

  • Interacts with Edtec, Mission Prep’s back office service for all finance/payroll functions/HR functions

Master Calendar and Planning

  • Ability to support the creation and iteration of master calendar

  • Leads substitute and coverage planning hub for faculty absences.

Testing and Compliance

  • Tracks all packages and orders in accordance with procedure and protocols of testing agency

  • Lead on the securing of all testing materials & compliance protocols for delivery and returns

  • Works closely with the System Manager and Leadership team to support logistics, and building readiness during testing windows.

Nutrition Programs

  • Order meals from vendors, and delivers productive feedback to enhance the program

  • Maintain FRL forms for students

  • Ensure food service safety compliance

  • Submit monthly reimbursements for free and reduced meals programs

Reports to: Executive Director
Manages: health and wellness team, food service providers, and Collaborates with: All Mission Preparatory Stakeholders

Qualifications: Required

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Strong organizational capacity

  • Experience analyzing and using data to inform practice

  • Openness to feedback and commitment to developing continually as a professional educator

  • Accountability for student achievement outcomes

Preferred

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • Experience working in urban schools

Start Date:

July 12, 2021

Time Commitment:

This position is 1.0 FTE (full-time exempt) and follows a 12-month work year with significant student-free days for professional learning and collaboration with colleagues and interaction with families.

Hours: This position is expected to maintain building hours of 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday, with occasional needs during evenings and weekends (e.g., Parent-Teacher Conferences, Community Events).

Salary and Compensation:

Salary scales are based on years of experience and expertise. Scales are competitive with other charter school organizations and local districts.
